Choose one of your characters. Uh-oh, he or she just got caught committing a major crime. Worse yet - it's all over the newspaper, and everyone's reading about it!
With your group, write a creative-yet-believable newspaper story that tells what your character did, why s/he did it, how s/he did it, the punishment, etc. To be in the running for first-to-lunch, you need to include quotes from a variety of people, include more than one of your book's characters in the article, and there needs to be creativity, but not craziness. Your main character, like Sal in Walk Two Moons, gets his/her hands on a genie lamp and can make 3 wishes. Using specific EVIDENCE FROM THE BOOK!, list the three wishes, explaining WHY he/she chose them and describing what will happen in the book because of the three wishes. If you do not include evidence from the book (AND PAGE NUMBERS), you will not receive credit for the blog.
Where does your book take place? Give evidence from the book, quotes and page numbers.
When does your book take place? Give evidence from the book, quotes and page numbers. How would it change the story if your book took place in Adams, MN today? Be specific and write what exactly would differ. How would the story stay the same? Be specific and write what exactly would stay the same. Place the characters of your book into a different setting and write a creative story using your characters as the main characters in the story. We are looking for creativity and an interesting plot.
Discuss your predictions about the book with your group and create a list of predictions along with the evidence supporting your prediction. You should make 4-8 predictions with evidence.
For example: I predict Walk Two Moons will be about walking around in moccasins. The evidence for this is that on the cover of the book there is a pair of moccasins and the title of the book has the word "walk." |
